Coverage for WRC Rally Jordan begins tonight on Discovery HD Theatre at 9:00 PM Central with a Preview and Day 1 coverage. Day 2 and 3 coverage continues on Friday also beginning at 9:00 PM Central. Rally Jordan was the 3rd event of the WRC season and is a gravel rally. Mikko Hirvonen won last year’s event and was looking to repeat and make up some ground on Loeb in the WRC driver points standing, but unfortunately things didn’t turn out so well for Mikko. Loeb managed to fight off Mikko’s teammate, Jari-Matti Latvala, for another victory for the season. Loeb has quite an advantage in the driver points standings going into Rally Turkey. Petter Solberg made another strong showing finishing in 3rd and Kimi Raikkonen finished his first event and even cracked the top 10.
Although Ken Block sat out the Rally Jordan event he makes his 2nd WRC event at Rally Turkey which gets underway this weekend. Despite the colder then expected temperatures, Block is confident about his chances and has a main goal of finishing the event after retiring on Day 2 of Rally Mexico. Block has not had much time to test out his Monster Rally Ford Focus RS since Rally Mexico, but he should still feel a bit more confident for this event after having one event in the car in his pocket. Block will be looking to get his first points and everyone will be chasing Loeb and trying to make up some ground in the driver points standings.
Block will then be returning to the U.S. to compete in the upcoming Rally America Olympus Rally. This will be the first Rally America event since Block won 100 Acre Wood in his Monster Rally Team Ford Fiesta in February. Block is currently tied for 3rd with Travis Pastrana in the Rally America driver standings.
