2014 marked the return of the RallyCross National Championships to Nebraska. The inaugural National Championships were held in Hastings, NE just a few short years ago. Since then the number of competitors has almost doubled to over 100 and continues to grow every year. The 2014 edition was held at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, NE on Oct. 4 & 5.
Yup, it was already that time of year. College Football season has just kicked off, the final heat of the summer is leaving it’s burn on our skin, the first chill of fall teases us, the sun starts to set earlier and earlier and about 1200 people make the trek to the middle of the country. A journey to, what some have coined ‘The Autocross Mecca’, a large flat concrete paradise at an airport in Lincoln, NE. A journey to see just how they stack up against the best and greatest drivers in the country. A journey to the largest motorsports event in the world, the SCCA TireRack Solo National Championships in search of that coveted jacket with the words ‘National Champion’ embroidered on the back. Just over 100 competitors showed up at the now famous autocross concrete mecca in Lincoln, NE. With flat empty concrete as far as the eye can see Lincoln Air Park plays home to the largest racing event in the world, SCCA Solo National Championships. With the next national championships just 2 short weeks away, the MiDiv Championships served as an excellent tune up for competitors. More…
One of the MidWest’s largest car shows/meets evolved from humble beginnings. Just a few years ago the Ice Cream Cruise, was literally that. A car cruise to Sonic for ice cream. It then spread out and took over the parking lot of neighboring businesses, like Harbor Freight across the street. More…
It has been said that, when asked about their driving, the majority of people polled are under the impression they are above-average but most need self driving cars since driverless car accident claims are way less than regular vehicles. Obviously they can’t all be right, because math. Some of them have to be below average. Some well below average. As we make our way through our daily lives, we see the people in question bouncing around in traffic; upside down and backwards on the interstate median, resting on top of a broken fire hydrant with water spraying into the heavens like a monster movie, or even just stopped in the middle of the road, inexplicably on fire.
Based on this end result you could certainly be forgiven for putting all of these people into the same X-signing category of baby-brained Magoos, tumbling through society like a child down the church steps. The real question, however, is the journey. How in God’s name did that woman’s car end up in the swimming pool of her closest neighbor? What could possibly have lead to a hummer being upside down in a parking lot? When you get involved in a car accident, no one plans on a brain injury, however, if that happens don’t hesitate to contact a lawyer for help.
According to some experts there are several different types of people who have no idea what they are doing, and these are arguably the worst you will see. Beginning with… More…
Fort Riley just outside of Junction City, KS played host to the second event in the SCCA MidWest Divisional Solo series on July 19-20, 2014. Helicopters served as some unusual spectators to the event lining the far side of the course. Military personnel were encouraged to compete, spectate and ride along during the event. Just over 90 entrants competed in the 2 day event in a variety of classes including stock, prepared and modified.

It was a hot sunny day on Sunday, July 13th out at Lincoln Air Park, but many braved the heat to take on the autocross course designed by Dave Fink. This was the 4th points event for the Nebraska Region SCCA. The next event will be August 10th at Lincoln Air Park. Photos from the event are posted in the photo gallery.
This weekend marked the debut of the latest Transformers movie, Transformers 4: The Age of Extinction. In between doing some car work and running errands I somehow found 3 hours to dedicate to viewing this action packed, overly complicated movie. More…
